CHILDREN AND GRIEF
For: Those who work with bereaved children and young people, including teachers, mentors, school nurses, support staff and school governors.
Aim: To develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to support children and young people who are experiencing loss and grief.
Learning Objectives:

To develop an understanding of how loss and grief affects children and young people’s physical and mental health;

To gain insight into the different ways in which children and young people react to grief and how schools might respond to their bereavement needs;

To develop the skills of bereavement care using play to facilitate grief work;
-
To increase awareness of issues that affect bereaved families.
Dates and time:
All sessions run from 7.30pm - 9.30pm
These sessions will run on 5 consecutive Tuesdays:
6 Mar / 13 Mar / 20 Mar / 27 Mar / 3 Apr

INITIAL BEREAVEMENT TRAINING
For: Anyone interested in offering support to bereaved adults and children in their community, or place of work. You need to be sponsored by a professional group or individual. (We do not accept anyone who has had a close bereavement within the last two years.)
Aim: To introduce and develop basic skills of bereavement care.
Learning Objectives:

To develop an understanding of the grieving process;

To develop the skills of empathic listening and responding;

To recognise how grief affects relationships with family and friends;

To identify one's own experience of loss;
-
To acquire ideas for setting boundaries and managing difficult questions.

All sessions run from 7.30pm - 9.30pm
These sessions run on 7 consecutive Mondays:

BEREAVEMENT WORKSHOP - SUICIDE
This two hour workshop will explore possible issues associated with bereavement by suicide and prepare visitors to deal with the expression of suicidal thoughts.
